Akash Iyer

Akash Iyer is a master’s student in Robotics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, building on his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland. His research and project work span robot perception, mechanical systems, and autonomous navigation—ranging from developing a quadruped robot with Robotics@Maryland to designing bio-inspired underwater vehicles and advanced drone systems. Akash has also gained hands-on industry experience through roles at Boeing, Henkel, and renewable energy organizations, where he applied engineering design, CAD modeling, and experimental testing to real-world challenges.
Since 2021, Akash has served as Chief Academic Officer at The Ursa Majors Group, helping guide the organization’s educational programs and mentorship initiatives. He is passionate about making robotics and engineering education more accessible and continues to combine technical expertise with his commitment to inspiring the next generation of innovators.
