Marissa Hayes
Mentor, mah488@cornell.edu
Marissa, a sophomore at Cornell University, is pursuing a major in Neurobiology and Behavior, complemented by minors in Spanish and Psychology. Drawing from her diverse experiences, she has immersed herself in various laboratory settings, including her current involvement in research exploring the connection between the heart and Parkinson's Disease. Additionally, Marissa serves as the Social Director for the Cornell chapter of The Steminist Movement (TSM), where she actively promotes STEM education among middle and high school girls. Outside of her academic and extracurricular pursuits, Marissa finds solace and joy in staying physically active, whether scaling rock walls or engaging in lively games of spikeball. Eager to expand her horizons and contribute to the STEM community, Marissa sees Ursa Majors as an opportunity to further nurture her passion for scientific exploration, collaborate with fellow enthusiasts, and inspire others to pursue their interests in STEM fields.
